Welcome to Ensalada ...a horticultural hamlet where tomates, cebollas, papas, apios, pepinos, coliflores y berenjenas live, love, learn, struggle and solve mysteries together.
Why vegetables? The animation of vegetables was a natural outgrowth of an early lesson in which I used apples of various colors, tomatoes of three sizes and chilis of various colors and sizes to teach Spanish 1 students the words for several colors, shapes and sizes. One day I lined up the large beef tomato, the regular tomato and the small "roma" tomato and announced: "Esta es una familia." It took off from there!
